History

After holding small informal meetings for about 5 years, indexers in Washington and Oregon realized that becoming an organized, formal chapter of ASI would benefit indexers in this area. In early 1996, the founding members gathered at Elspeth Pope's home where we reviewed the procedures for establishing an ASI chapter, drafted by-laws, and sent the necessary documents off to ASI's Administrative Office. The by-laws were approved, establishing the PNW Chapter, in April, 1996.

The PNW chapter officially serves ASI members in Washington and Oregon, members outside these two states who select affiliation with our chapter, and participants who are not members of ASI.
