Informal Meetings

The following are meetings that have been mentioned on the regional listserv, INDEX-PNW. For more information about one of these meetings, please contact the person whose name appears with the announcement.

    Seattle Peer Review

The Seattle Peer Review group meets at the Bellevue Regional Library, typically on the second Saturday of the month from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The exact day and time are posted to the SeattleIndexers listserv each month. A map is available on the King County library website: http://www.kcls.org/bellevue/directions.cfm.

You can join our email listserv to get the latest info and the indexes for review: http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/seattleindexers/

We usually review indexes (posted to the SeattleIndexers group page) in advance for discussion during the meeting, and walk–in indexes are also reviewed. We address indexing topics, and use these events as networking opportunities for a little industry shop talk as well. We try to keep it as informal and relaxed as possible. On occasion some of us might meet beforehand for lunch, or get some coffee after the meeting.

For more information, contact Paul Sweum.

Newcomers and drop-ins are always welcome!

Eugene Peer Review and Discussion

The Eugene-area indexers holds their monthly peer review on the first Tuesday of each month, from 10 am until noon. It will be held next to Yumm! in the west entrance of the Oakway Mall. Some of us like to arrive a bit early for general socializing and/or stay for lunch for more of the same!

Please RSVP and send indexes for review (if you have one) attached, in RTF (Rich Text Format) to Cathy Martz by the Sunday afternoon before the meeting. If you can't send an index in time, you can bring 4-5 copies to the meeting for a "cold" review.

[If you have no index of your own making, run 4 copies of a short published index, review and mark up your copy. Then compare what your own review missed by having the group review the index. Ask your questions.]

Newcomers and drop-ins are always welcome!

    Portland Peer Review

The Portland Peer Review group meets at the Hollywood Library in NE Portland, usually the second or third Wednesday of the month from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The exact day and time and location are posted to the Index-PNW and PortlandIndexers listserves each month.

You can join our email listserv to get the latest info and the indexes for review:
           http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/portlandindexers/

Often we go to lunch  too. For more information, contact Scott Smiley.

Newcomers and drop-ins are always welcome!

PNW Drysiders

The Dry-Siders Indexing Group is an informal group of persons interested in indexing who meet occasionally to discuss indexing issues. Attendees come from Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Bristish Columbia, Alberta and sometimes Montana. All are welcome, member of PNW or not.
