The Chapter celebrated its 10th year in 2006, culminating in the 10th Anniversary Meeting on the weekend of Ocober 7, 2006 in Olympia, the location of our founding. We hope you enjoy these puzzles as a way to sharpen your skills in patterning and vocabulary...and have fun!
We will provide the puzzle URL to you as each new puzzle is uploaded. Each new puzzle will have the answer to the previous puzzle included in it.
Hints on solving cryptograms:
1~ First, read the clues provided.
2~ Then, note the single-letter word. We have only two in English.
3~ Likewise, look for apostrophes. Only a limited number of letters can
follow (or precede) an apostrophe.
4~ Look for short words that start with the same cluster of letters.
Examples: of, for, from; the, that, these, when, where.
5~ A letter NEVER stands for itself. All letters are encrypted.
That's probably enough to get you started. It's all about the patterns.
These are PDFs, able to be read using Adobe Acobat Reader, a free program that you probably already have. If not, download the free Reader: click Acrobat Reader and follow the directions to download it to your computer.
