WHY INVITE INDEXERS TO YOUR NEXT MEETING?
Are you a teacher or librarian? We can show your students how to use indexes to make their
research easier. We can teach your students how to index their own work. We can compare indexed Web
sites with those that only offer full-text searching.
Is it hard to find information in your company's documentation? We can introduce you to
the indexing process and explain the benefits of having indexes in your publications.
Do you work for a small publisher or high-tech company that has its authors create
indexes? We can show you how contracting with a professional indexer can enhance your
products, resulting in increased customer satisfaction and sales. Research has also shown
that well-written indexes significantly reduce calls to technical support.
Are you a Webmaster who has content to index but doesn't know how or where
to get started? We can point you in the right direction.
Are you a member of a professional organization that specializes in writing and
editing? Many of these organizations have members who are dying to learn more about
indexing. We can step your members through the indexing process and give them resources for
getting further information.
Are you an English, Journalism, Library Science, or Technical Communication major who
is exploring career opportunities? Our professional indexers come from a wide variety of
backgrounds. If you think you'd like to be an indexer, we can tell you how to get started.
WHO ARE WE? Our speakers are professional indexers with more than five years of professional indexing
experience, and many are experienced speakers and instructors as well. If you would like
someone from our Speaker's Bureau to talk to your group, please contact the Speakers Bureau
Coordinator, Cynthia Landeen, to discuss your needs
and your audience. She'll then recommend a speaker or two and give you their contact information.

TOPICS WE HAVE PRESENTED If you would like a general introduction to indexing or to working with indexers, feel
free to contact any or all of these members and work with someone who is available on the
date(s) you need a speaker. Each speaker offers different topics, so you should contact
each one to discuss your needs and our experience. Some are freelance, others work in-house.
Some specialize in legal documents, medical documents, or embedded indexing.
